Data Developments

Church Accounting Software: In Partnership with Data Developments

In 2021 the DBF worked with a number of churches to pilot cloud-based church accounting software MyFundAccounting and MyGivingOnline from Data Developments

It was very well received, and we are now pleased to offer it to everyone at a subsidised rate of £9 a month for the first two years. After two years the price reverts back to the Diocesan group package price of £13 a month (usually £25 a month).

The team at Data Developments has experience in various roles within Anglican churches and as such, have a good understanding of your accounting requirements.

A template list of Nominal Codes has already been set up, to provide consistency across the Diocese; these can adapted to meet your own church needs. Data Developments offers good helpline support services, and because it is cloud-based, it can log in remotely to help resolve queries in real-time. It provides both in-person and online training, can also audit church accounts, and provide bookkeeping services (minimum 18 month contract) .

For a free 30-day trial, or for more information, email sales@datadevelopments.co.uk

Next online training starts Tuesday 30 January -  Data Developments - Training Days

Next in person training workshops on Saturday 27 January in Devizes and Marlborough – email anna.hardy@salisbury.anglican.org for details.

What do other treasurers say?

Mandy Kerley, a qualified accountant and PCC Treasurer at Farley with Pitton, was part of the pilot, and was so impressed she is now one of our Diocesan Ambassadors. She recently supported Weymouth Radipole PCC as they set up their five churches – who were all previously using different systems.

Mandy lists the benefits as:

  • Software specifically designed with Churches in mind, it talks our language

  • Can be used for the return of Parish Finance and /or Gift Aid returns at the touch of a button

  • Cloud based, so access can be granted to others to provide information or assistance in the case of sickness/query etc

You don’t need to be a qualified accountant to use this new software. Steve Blight is the PCC Treasurer at St Lukes in Parkstone, and describes himself as a bookkeeper. Steve has also found great benefit in using the Finance Co-ordinator package from Data Developments.

Steve lists the advantages as:

  • standard pre-formatted reports - especially useful for non-accountants like me

  • excellent reliability of software

  • integration with gift aid, payroll, and Church Organiser
