Celebration service led by Bishop Karen and Bishop June Osborne, to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the ordination of women as priests in this diocese
A briefing with prayer points has been produced in this diocese to aid reflections, in support of the Church of England's pray your part campaign, to encourage prayer and participation this election season.
"On this day we hold before our heavenly Father those whose memory we cherish and those whose names we will never know. Since starting pre-Covid, St Thomas in Ensbury Park’s Welcome Wednesday, Friday (and monthly Saturday), has seen faith driven growth and new purpose.
As I look at the order of service for the first women to be ordained as a priest in the Diocese of London I notice something is wrong. On the cover there is the place, the date and the time of the service. It does not mention the ordaining bishop, which would normally appear on the cover, and the list of candidates does not include any parishes which is also very strange. Why? I will tell you why. This is what I recall of that day.
Led by Bishop Karen and Karen Hutchinson 25 April— 2 May 2025
