Measure today, change tomorrow
The Energy Footprint Tool (EFT) is now open for 2025 energy data. Completing the EFT is part of our shared journey to net zero – each year’s data builds a clearer picture of carbon use and helps us act more strategically together. It is an essential requirement when applying for grant funding, and it also helps toward your Eco Church award application.
It takes less than half an hour and anyone with access to your energy bills can complete it. Filling in your Energy Footprint Tool is an unseen but essential act of caring for God’s people and creation. Head to the Parish Returns website to complete your EFT. Do contact our NZC officer Jarrod Hill if you need help – he will be available to help every parish/benefice over the coming months to provide support and guidance.
One of the issues most commonly experienced by parishes last year was that their energy bills were being audited and so could not be accessed to extract the data needed. Do make plans to gather the data you need as early as possible, before your bills need to be sent away. The survey has changed a little bit since last year, to allow for the increase in the installation and use of renewable energy technologies, and whether ‘other buildings’ are in scope or not, and therefore need to be reported or not. But it is still easy to complete, and in less than half an hour. Click here to watch a new walkthrough video.
Please let Jarrod Hill know if the person responsible for submitting the EFT in your parish has changed since last year, or if you need help accessing the Parish Returns website. And thank you to those parishes that have already submitted their EFT – in a few weeks, we’ve already reached 5% submission rate…
