Cycle of Prayer: 17 July- 23 July 2023

Reading this week's prayers is Bishop Karen. Bishop Karen is the The Bishop of Sherborne and is responsible for the Dorset parts of the diocese. Bishop Karen is one of the female participant observers in the House of Bishops and is a member of the House of Bishop’s Delegation Committee.

17 July

Lord Jesus, 

Today we thank you for Castel, in the Guernsey Deanery. 

We pray for the appointment of a house for duty priest and give thanks for the development of lay ministry during the vacancy.

18 July

Lord , 

Today We pray for Vale, Guernsey Deanery and its Clergy: Beverley Herve. We raise in our prayers to you O God, the Parish of the Vale and its community. We pray for the Rector, Churchwardens and the congregation of the Vale Church and for the worship, outreach and pastoral care. We pray always that all who come seeking Christ may find his presence and his peace.

19 July 

Lord Jesus, 

Thank you for Princess Elizabeth Hospital Chaplain: Linda Le Vasseu, and Elizabeth College Chaplain: Peter Graysmith. We thank you for their dedication to their roles and to the patients and staff at the Hospital. We pray that the appointments to the new chaplaincy posts run smoothly and that the the new spirital care centre may progress.  . We pray for the new Wellbeing Hub and for the Chaplaincy’s role within it. Thank you Father for the Episcopal Churches in South Sudan and Sudan: We remember in our prayers the Rt Revd Isaac Deu Chol, Bishop of Kapoeta in South Sudan.

Lord God, 

Today we lift before you the inmates and staff of Guernsey prison and those who minister to them. We pray too for the clergy and congregation of St John and the continuing work of the church in the community.  We pray for prisoners and their families, and for the work of Guernsey Care for Ex-offenders, a Christian charity.

21 July

Dear God, 

Today we pray for St Peter, Sark, and Guernsey Deanery  Clergy: David Stolton and Tim Barker. For licensed lay minister: Terry Archer. We give thanks for the beauty that surrounds Guernsey and the return of holidaymakers. 

May all who visit the island and church be enriched and rested by the peace and tranquillity they find here. We pray for the church partnership and ecumenical mission to the people of Sark, that God's presence will be known throughout the island.

Lord we pray on Mary Magdalene’s feast day, 

Particularly for the ministry of women across and within our churches. For their witness to Making Jesus Known. 

We also pray today for The Archdeacon of Dorset The Ven Antony MacRow-Wood. Please pray For wisdom in efforts to design and refine the Share system for the Diocese, that we can step forward together sustainably to make you known in every place.  We also pray for his role in Finance and Asset Management as Director. 

And we pray too for Lucy Holt who is covering for Antony’s Archdeaconry role as acting Assistant Archdeacon North West Bournemouth and Poole and Wimborne deaneries. And pray for Lucy for energy, joy and wisdom.

Dear Lord,  today, Seventh Sunday after Trinity 

We pray for Purbeck Deanery and its Rural Dean: Ian Jackson. We hold before you his ministry and pray you will bless it. We give thanks for the deanery and give thanks for those who live there, holiday there or have second homes there and for all summer visitors. We pray for new clergy in the deanery and for those moving onto new posts or retirement.
