Cycle of Prayer: 26 June-2 July 2023

Reading this week's prayers is Neil Biles, he is the Town Centre Chaplain for Weymouth and works with various members in the community in different projects.

26 June

Lord Jesus 

We pray today for Marnhull, Blackmore Vale Deanery and its Clergy: Gaenor Hockey and Angus Mayhew. 

We thank you for those whom you have called to serve as ordained ministers in your Church.  Fill them with your Holy Spirit as they prepare for their ordination at Petertide and bless them as they make Jesus known in the communities to which you have sent them. 

We give thanks for God's blessings day by day. We pray for the further development of pastoral care volunteers in the parish, for the shared curate Angus Mayhew when he is ordained priest on July 1st and for our school community including St Gregory’s CE VA Primary School.

27 June

We pray today for Okeford, Blackmore Vale Deanery and for the unstinting work of dedicated lay people during our long vacancy, and pray that God will direct a new incumbent to work in the benefice.

Lord in our prayers today we raise to you Ministry Formation Team Leader, DDO and IME Coordinator: Nigel Done. 

Our prayers go to all who are stepping forward in offering their gifts, time and energy in the service of the Kingdom and the local church. We hold in our hearts for God’s anointing on all who are on retreat Sarum College in preparation for their ordination in Salisbury Cathedral as priests on Saturday 1 July and as deacons on Sunday 2nd July. 

We pray for the Episcopal Churches in our link dioceses South Sudan and Sudan. We pray for an end to the violence and conflct and hold before you especially the Archbishop and Bishop of Yambio in South Sudan.

Lord Jesus 

Today we pray for Peter and Paul, Apostles Spire Hill, Blackmore Vale Deanery Clergy: Richard Hancock, Angela Syer, Graham Hitchins, David Dunning, Joe Edwards. For Licensed lay minister: Judy Waite. Licensed worship leaders: Sarah Bollen, Nicholas Smith, Vinny Taylor, John Worth. Licensed pastoral assistant: Rachel Page. 

We pray for the launch of the 10 year Mission Action Plan “Salt & Light” as we seek to share the good news in the benefice communities, reaching out to people where they are , and helping the church flourish. 

In particular we pray for the new initiative with families our drop in Cafe at Stourton Caundle and thank you for the Father’s Day event and new family service at Stalbridge. We also pray for Stalbridge CE Primary School

Lord Jesus, in our prayers we thank you for Stour Vale, Blackmore Vale Deanery . 

We give thanks for the lay ministry team and pray for the benefice as  it seeks to share God's love in our villages whilst facing the challenges of continuing vacancy.

1 July

Lord Jesus, 

Today we pray for Sturminster Newton, Hinton St Mary and Lydlinch, and Blackmore Vale Deanery Clergy: Mary Gubbins. 

We pray that all there will continue to bless our parishes in both familiar and new ways, and grow together as a mutually supportive Benefice and part of the Pilgrim Group of Churches. 

We pray for everyone who enables the life and witness of church communities and that more will flock to them to learn more about you.

Heavenly Father, 

On the Fourth Sunday after Trinity we thank you for Shaftesbury, Blackmore Vale Deanery Clergy: Donna Gibbs, Helen Williams. We give our prayers for the DreamScheme and for those confirmed recently. 

Prayers for Team Shaftesbury Benefice as we develop the approach to local leadership and discipleship, and for all those who come to church seeking love and acceptance.
