Reading this week’s prayers is Margaret Trafford, the Administrator for the Golden Cap Team of churches. She has held this position for over 10 years work along side Clergy, LLM and Church Members of their 12 churches.

3 July

Lord, 

Today we raise in our prayers to you for Thomas the Apostle Gillingham, Milton on Stour and Silton, for Blackmore Vale Deanery Clergy: Peter Greenwood, Eve Pegler, Tim Heaton and Angus Mayhew. Thank you for their work they do in their parishes and deanery. 

We pray for the new deacons and priests ordained in the diocese this past weekend. In this benefice we give thanks for and pray for the Revd Angus Mayhew ordained priest. May God bless them, their families, and all those they live and work amongst. 

We hold before you today the children and staff at 

Milton-on-Stour CE VA Primary School 

Gillingham St Mary the Virgin CE VA School

4 July

Lord Jesus, 

Today we pray for HMP Guy's Marsh -  all residents, staff, volunteers and visitors, that they may come to know your transforming love. We pray for the chaplaincy team and their work bringing hope to all in the prison. We pray for those involved in finding a replacement to Peter Browne and give thanks for all the work that he did, and the time that he gave to people, that drew many closer to you.

Lord Jesus, 

Hear our prayers today for The Dean of Guernsey The Very Revd Tim Barker. 

We pray for the Dean in his many responsibilities, with opportunities for ministry and engagement with all parts of life in Guernsey. 

We thank you and pay for the Deanery of Guernsey as we prepare to recruit and welcome new clergy, and develop new opportunities for chaplaincy to Guernsey’s institutions and organisations. 

We raise to you all vocations to ministry, lay and ordained.  We pray for the Island of Guernsey as it hosts the Island Games from 9July.. 

We thank you God for the Episcopal Churches in South Sudan and Sudan: we  pray particularly for the Rt Revd Tandema Obede, Bishop of Olo in South Sudan.

6 July

Dear God,

We thank you today for Alderney in the Guernsey Deanery We give thanks for the ministry in Alderney of Jan and Tony Fowler and pray for their adjustment to retirement and their return to England. 

We pray for the many clergy who will be ministering in Alderney as locums in the coming months, and for discernment about the appropriate shape of permanent ministry (and its funding). 

And we give thanks to you for the dedication of Alderney’s lay worship leaders and pastoral assistants.

7 July

We pray to you O God today for 

St Matthew, Cobo, in Guernsey Deanery and its Clergy: Gill Nobes and Jim Sykes. We pray for all holidaymakers staying in and around Cobo and, as the end of the school term approaches, for all children at La Mare Primary and Castel Primary Schools who will soon be moving on to new schools after the holidays. We pray you guide them and bless them in all they do as they make this transition.

Jesus, 

Today we thank you for Forest, Guernsey Deanery Clergy: Claire Claxton (also Chaplain to Les Bourgs Hospice). LLM: Margaret BodenHeaume. 

We give thanks for the 23 years of devoted service of the Peoples' Churchwarden and pray that we can find someone to take on the role as he seeks to retire. We pray for a way to encourage the parents whose children are baptised here to become part of the fellowship and for the couples whose weddings will take place in Guernsey this summer.

God, 

Thank you for St Andrew, Guernsey Deanery Clergy: Tim Barker. We pray for the successful planning and execution of the project to develop St Andrew’s church with the provision of improved access, toilet facilities and space for hospitality. 

Pray that this will open new opportunities for mission and engagement with the community of this scattered rural parish.
