Safeguarding Sunday - 20 November

Ahead of the awareness day, Jem Carter, Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser, said: "Safeguarding Sunday is coming up and whilst Safeguarding and ensuring people’s safety is something we need to consider everyday – this day will be an opportunity to specifically reflect on those who have been affected by abuse, and thank those who continue to make our churches safer places."

Jem is one of the two Safeguarding Advisers in the diocese. He also supports Salisbury Cathedral and the Deaneries in the Channel Islands.

He has been in this role for three years and prior to this, worked for nearly 30 years in the Police in a variety of investigative roles, with a passion for supporting victims and survivors.

Thirtyone:eight has put together a set of resources you can use in your Sunday services to help you explore together what safer places look like, to thank those working behind the scenes to make our churches safer for all, and show your community that you take safeguarding seriously.
