Congratulations to the various churches, parishes and communities across Wiltshire and Dorset who took part on 9 September in Ride + Stride.
Ride + Stride takes place annually, raising funds for historic churches trusts. Taking place on the second Saturday of September the funds raised can be split between the nominated Trust and the participants chosen church or chapel.
Although last Saturday proved to be one of the hottest days of the year, supporters of Dorset and Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust were out in force to raise sponsorship to help maintain our diocese' beautiful and historic church buildings.
A big well done to all those involved, an amazing example of our diocese working towards local causes. Many churches were open all day and faithful volunteers supplied much-appreciated refreshments. The Trust is very grateful to everyone who took part.

In Dorset, Eric Jager, previous marathon runner, set off in the early morning to avoid the heat on his 28 mile route via Wynford Eagle and Sherborne Abbey. Meanwhile cyclist Peter Williams visited 42 churches on his circular tour from Silton.
Rev Jenny Nelson, Assistant Curate in the Three Valleys benefice, cycled to 19 churches (45 miles), she says "all beautiful places of worship built to the glory of God, each special in their own way. Thank you for your sponsorship."
In Wiltshire, Nigel Jackson and John Stott cycled 30 miles from Corsham to Neston, Gastard, Lacock, Chippenham, Kington St Michael, Leigh Delamere, Grittleton, Yatton Keynell, Biddestone, Hartham, Corsham churches.
Anna Hardy (DBF Giving Advisor) and the members of St Mark’s West Parley Parish, walked 10 miles from West Parley to Wimborne Minster, along the Stour Valley way.
John Stott and Kiruthik cycled from Corsham to Neston, Gastard and Lacock and ended back in Corsham.
