LLM Annual Service

On Saturday 28 September, the LLMs of the Diocese gathered at Salisbury Cathedral for their annual service of celebration of their ministry and recommitment to serving God and their communities as Lay Ministers.

News from the Church of the Good Shepherd

"An exciting new community building is opening at the Church of the Good Shepherd on Poole’s Herbert Avenue. Over the last twelve months, people passing by have seen the 1931 timber building demolished and a new church building (pictured above) emerging to take its place – a similar shape but larger and with top quality modern facilities.

Church Mission Society's (CMS) Pioneers

The latest CMS certificate in pioneer mission has been completed with an awards ceremony and commissioning of three new lay pioneers in the Diocese. Eight completed the course, with two being from Jersey. These pioneers are work across housing estates, among the homeless and those recovering from addiction, children and young people, the houseboat community on the Kennet and Avon canal, and rural Dorset village.

Four new canons join Salisbury Cathedral’s College of Canons

During Evensong on Monday 23 September, four new canons were installed into the College of Canons. In a service held at Salisbury Cathedral, The Revd Kate McFarlane (Rector of the Benefice of St Bartholomew in Semley), The Revd Paul Brooks (Vicar of St Paul's in Jersey), Alan Smith (First Church Estates Commissioner for the Church of England) and Sue de Candole (Diocesan Registrar), were installed by Bishop Stephen.

Meet our new lay ministers

On Saturday 28 September two new lay ministers will be admitted and licensed in Salisbury Cathedral by Bishop Karen as Warden of Licensed Lay Ministers, and many more will renew their promises, as they do each year in a service that celebrates this essential ministry.


Bike Blessing!

Last Sunday, 1 September, over thirty bikers from Dorset and Wiltshire came to St Mary's, Gillingham for a motorcycle blessing.
