There was a joyful service recently at Wimborne Minster as Bishop Karen commissioned 21 new Lay Pastoral Assistants (with one more to be commissioned in parish) to serve in parishes across Wimborne deanery.
The Bishop of Salisbury is delighted to announce the appointment of Rebecca Paveley as the new communications and engagement director for the Diocese.
‘Soul, Soil and Society’ was the theme of the recent Rural Symposium, organised by the Rural Hope team. The Symposium, held at St Paul’s Church in Salisbury, brought together over 70 rural ministry and mission experts from across the South West and South Central regions and beyond.
During Evensong on Tuesday 4 October, seven new canons are to be installed as members of Salisbury Cathedral’s College of Canons at the invitation of Bishop Stephen.
Jersey Deanery is now formally attached to the Diocese of Salisbury, after the two Orders in Council were registered by the Royal Court in Jersey on Friday 2 September. This follows Her Majesty the Queen's approval of the legislation on 19 July.
Our Diocesan Secretary, David Pain, was among the many to strap on their helmets, pull on their cycling jerseys, and take up the annual Ride and Stride challenge across the diocese on Saturday 10 September.
As the period of national mourning came to a close, churches around the diocese gathered to have thanksgiving services for the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, and to watch her funeral in community.
On Saturday 17 September, four new lay ministers were licensed at Salisbury Cathedral, with Licensed Lay Ministers (LLMs) from across the diocese gather to celebrate this occasion and to renew their own commitment to this valuable ministry.
The Revd Jim Edie was welcomed to the Benefice of Sherborne on Tuesday 6 September, as both Team Vicar of St Paul's Church, and Chaplain of The Gryphon School.
