Sarum College has strong connections to the diocese, and is for all to enjoy. It's situated in the heart of Salisbury Cathedral grounds, and hosts our Mission and Ministry team's office. The diocese also has close relationships with the staff of the college.

This October, local churches have been celebrating Harvest in colourful and abundant ways.


New podcast on Rural Ministry

One of the constant repeated cries whenever rural church members at deanery or diocesan level gather is how can sessions can be effectively communicated to share good practice, experiences and resources. This was strongly fed back to the diocese rural ministry team at the recent Rural Days in both the north and south of the diocese. 


Bishop Cannings community lunch

Bishop Canning's Primary School in Devizes had a positively 'souper' time on Saturday 8 October,  holding the Big Soup Share Lunch for their local community. Pupils and staff from the whole school were involved in harvesting vegetables from the school garden and local allotments before turning them into delicious soup. 


Anti-Slavery Day 2022 – Make the Pledge

Every year on 18 October, people around the world mark Anti-Slavery Day; a campaign set-up to help spread awareness of this heinous crime.


Local mission initiatives shared at the Ramsbury Area Rural Day

The Ramsbury Area Rural Day was held at Warminster School last Saturday. The day attracted nearly 80 stallholders and members from the Ramsbury area. There was something for everyone who attended, from talks on 'lego church' to creating space for informal reflection. Many left inspired and encouraged for rural mission. 


'What is a vocation and do I have one?'

God calls each of us by name (Isaiah 43.1), and at the heart of responding to our vocation is to be the unique person that God calls on us to be. 


St Mary's, Beaminster works towards carbon zero

Having won the A Rocha Gold Eco Church Award in 2020, St Mary's Church in Beaminster was inspired by the Archbishop of Canterbury's request that all church buildings should aim to be carbon zero by 2030. So, during the height of the Covid Crisis, the team set about thinking about how to achieve this lofty goal!

Bishop Stephen spoke to Matthew Price on BBC Jersey this past Sunday where he shared his thoughts about the Deanery of Jersey formally becoming part of the Diocese, with the Deanery of Guernsey closely following suit.  


Seven new canons admitted to Salisbury Cathedral’s College of Canons

Seven new canons were admitted to Salisbury Cathedral’s College of Canons at the invitation of Bishop Stephen on 4 October, during Evensong. The canons were the first to be installed since Bishop Stephen began his work in the diocese.
